Generic Elestat 0.05% eye drop contains Epinastine as its primary active ingredient. It is an antihistamine that is selective to H1 Receptors and has a high affinity towards H2 receptors. It works by inhibiting histamine release from the mast cells present in the eye by being absorbed into the topical capillaries of your eyes. This medication is known to reduce inflammation, itching, and any allergic responses that you may have in your eyes. It does not pass through the blood-brain barrier and, therefore, is not known to induce any side effects that may relate to the Central Nervous System.
